aerobis fitness GmbH had a clear vision: functional training should no longer be based on feel alone, but become measurable, comparable and motivating.
The in-house powrlink sensor laid the foundation: a small device fitted between the training equipment and its anchor point that captures forces and movements. Combined with an app, it was to become a system that makes performance visible, documents progress and takes training to a new level.
The aim was to bring data, motivation and training together and, for the first time, make functional fitness truly data-driven.
Functional training had always lacked one decisive factor: measurability. Athletes could train, but they could not see exactly what forces they were actually applying or how their performance developed over time.
Progress often remained subjective, comparisons were hardly possible and real performance data simply did not exist. For ambitious athletes and coaches in particular, this was a major obstacle.
The idea was clear, but a solution that sensibly combined hardware and software and worked reliably during training did not yet exist.
The challenge lay in combining hardware and software. The sensor had to measure precisely, while the app had to receive, process and clearly present the data in real time.
The speed of data transmission was particularly critical. In training, every second counts: delays or inaccurate values would have spoilt the entire user experience.
What was needed was a solution that worked reliably from a technical point of view and could also hold up in demanding everyday training.
Werkdigital first developed a well-thought-out product concept and then built a cross-platform app for iOS and Android within just a few weeks.
The focus was on seamless communication between sensor and smartphone. An optimised Bluetooth interface made it possible to transmit the measurement data almost in real time and make it available directly in the app.
During training, users can see live which forces are acting, how their movements develop and what they are actually achieving. This is complemented by a clear display and the option of logging training sessions concisely.
The result is an application that makes complex measurement data immediately understandable and fits perfectly into the flow of training.
In spring 2025, aerobis presented the first version of the solution at the FIBO fitness trade fair in Cologne and struck a chord with the community.
Visitors tested the combination of sensor and app on site and were convinced by the instant feedback of performance data during training. The reactions quickly showed that this was a solution functional training had never seen before.
With Werkdigital's support, aerobis was able not only to create real added value for athletes, but also to secure a clear lead in the market. The increased visibility and the innovative product have contributed directly to the company's success ever since, both in perception and in revenue.

“Working with Werkdigital was very efficient, pleasant and straightforward. What we particularly appreciated was the clear communication as equals, without unnecessary complexity. Decisions could be made quickly, often in direct exchange with the people responsible. While developing Powrlink Light, we experienced how such a project can be delivered in a structured and extremely fast way, even alongside day-to-day business.”
aerobis fitness develops innovative products that let athletes train anytime and anywhere. Gyms, clubs, personal trainers and athletes all over Europe use its innovative solutions.
Alongside high-quality physical products, aerobis has for some years also relied on attractive digital offerings that round off its range perfectly.
To begin with, Werkdigital developed a well-thought-out product concept: how can the measurement data from the powrlink sensor become a training experience that motivates rather than overwhelms? From this came the vision of an app that makes performance visible and fits seamlessly into the flow of training.

Seamless integration into the flow of trainingUsing React Native, the app was developed for iOS and Android in parallel, saving time and money with a consistent user experience. The .NET back end is designed for straightforward further development, and Docker ensures fast deployments and flexible scaling.

.NET services enable modern, well-structured back ends that can be developed further at any time without complications.
Docker provides applications in standardised containers that run reliably anywhere. For our clients, this means faster deployments, greater stability and flexible scaling.
