Online portal for dentists and dental laboratories

A crown or an implant is not made in the dental practice but in the dental laboratory. A large part of modern dentistry therefore depends on the interaction between practice and laboratory, and that is exactly where Dentsply Sirona wanted to start. The aim was to reorganise collaboration between dentists and dental laboratories worldwide.

Instead of fragmented processes, a central platform was to be created through which orders can be handled digitally, efficiently and reliably, regardless of location or time zone.

At its core was the ambition to simplify the entire workflow and create a solution that meets the global requirements of the industry.

Practices and laboratories have to work closely together, but in everyday work this exchange is often laborious. Different systems meet, many steps are done manually, and uniform standards are largely missing.

On top of that comes the international dimension. The solution has to work in several languages, hold its own in very different markets and offer an availability that users can rely on in their day-to-day business.

A platform therefore had to do more than offer good functionality. It had to scale globally and remain available at all times.

For Werkdigital, this meant an application that handles high loads safely, runs in a technically stable way and is still easy to use.

The platform was to handle large order volumes, be usable internationally and meet the highest availability requirements. Complex technical processes run in the background, while users see a clear and intuitive interface.

The task was therefore to build an infrastructure that grows over the long term and can be adapted flexibly to new requirements.

These requirements gave rise to the Sirona Connect Portal, a highly available cloud application based on a modern microservices architecture.

The platform runs on a scalable Azure infrastructure and is designed for 24/7 operation. With support for 18 languages and users from more than 100 countries, the result is a solution that can be used worldwide.

Particular emphasis was placed on stability, performance and an interface that can be understood without long training. Orders can be managed easily, and collaboration between dentists and dental laboratories works regardless of time and place.

The Sirona Connect Portal has become a central part of digital dentistry.

More than 5.5 million orders are handled via the platform every year, supported by more than 50,000 dentists and laboratories worldwide. The stable and scalable infrastructure ensures smooth operation around the clock.

Thanks to continuous maintenance and further development by Werkdigital, the system remains powerful over the long term and adapts to new requirements.

The result is a solution that not only simplifies processes but lastingly improves collaboration across the entire industry.
